MT 1140 - Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers

This course explores the study of mathematics topics that the elementary school teacher is likely to teach with an emphasis on problem-solving and critical thinking. Topics include reasoning about numbers and quantities, reasoning about shapes and measurement, reasoning about chance and data, and the development of algebraic reasoning. Students will practice analyzing students work and develop their abilities to collaborate, explain, generalize, and justify as a mathematics problem solver. Restricted to Elementary Education majors.
