PH 4400 - Optics in Medicine (3) This course focuses on the optical principles that guide vision and the medical use of light in the body. Topics may include: the Electromagnetic Spectrum, specular and diffuse reflection, refraction, diffraction, total internal reflection, dispersion, color theory, absorption, lasers, photodynamic therapy, polarization, human and animal vision/vision defects, fiber optics and endoscopy in medicine. Optical principles will be related to their medical use for vision, diagnosis and treatment.
Lab fee. Prerequisite: PH 2750 or PH 2940 .
