BSCI 1010 - Special Topics (3) This introductory course provides the fundamental concepts of sciences, health professions, and research. Subject matter experts from various fields of study will present a wide range of topics designed to introduce the student to concepts and foundational knowledge related to the STEP professions. Through lectures, class discussions, hands-on clinical practice sessions, individualized research, and job shadowing, students will be able to understand fundamental concepts related to careers in science, health, and research. In addition, this course is designed to foster skills in teamwork, communication, critical thinking, analysis of data, and the research process. This course may be taken up to four times for academic credit; and each term the course will be offered with a unique focus. All students will be required to be part of and complete and present a research project with the guidance of a faculty mentor.
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Pathways Program.
