In World Literature and the Environment students will examine literature from around the globe as a way to understand the intersections of human culture and the physical environment. The course will include instruction in writing about literature and will give special focus to the natural environment as it both affects and is affected by human culture, giving attention to possible topics such as wilderness, ecosystems, natural history, recreation, agriculture, hunting, pollution, animal life, extinction, natural resources, and environmental justice. Students will seek to understand how differing locations and differing cultures around the world affect the human relationship to environment.
