SO 4200 - Sociology of Aging

This course introduces students to the major sociological perspectives on human aging, with a focus on the Life Course Perspective. From this perspective, we will discuss how each generation of people ages and develops in a shared society alongside members of other generations. These discussions allow us to better understand how aging impacts social life and how culture shapes our expectations of aging, at all points along the human lifespan.
