MT 3110 - Critical Interpretations and Ethical Use of Data (3) A course in critical and ethical data literacy for students of all academic backgrounds. This course develops the skills necessary to interpret, evaluate, and communicate data ethically and responsibly. Students will learn to identify misleading visualizations and statistics, examine the sources and context of data, and consider the assumptions and decisions involved in data collection and analysis. The course will also address the ethical implications of data use, including issues of privacy, consent, equity, and algorithmic bias. Through interdisciplinary, real-world examples, students will explore how data informs decision-making and influences society, with an emphasis on using data thoughtfully, ethically, and effectively.
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing. Core Curriculum: (ACI, IQL)
