BIA 6304 - Text Mining, NLP, and LLMs

This course will introduce the essential techniques of text mining and Natural Language Processing (NLP), including the retrieval and preparation of text for use with standard predictive methods. Students will be introduced to methods to extract text from a variety of sources (e.g. web, social media, documents) and will learn how to process text and build a corpus to appropriately address business questions. The course will cover traditional text mining techniques such as sentiment analysis, document similarity, and topic modeling. Additionally, students will gain insight into emerging technologies such as Large Language models (LLMs), which power applications like chatbots, content generation, and advanced semantic analysis. The primary software tool for this class is Python.

Prerequisite: BIA 6301  and BIA 6303 .
