PT 6040 - Foundations of Physical Therapy Lab

This course focuses on the foundations of physical therapy practice. Students are introduced to the APTA and how to utilize its resources, including but not limited to: Financial Resource Center and the Guide to Physical Therapist Practice. The students will identify and utilize the ICF model and patient/client management model including the processes of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, outcomes, prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers. Students learn the aspects of documentation, how to obtain a history and relevant information from the patient/client, including a review of systems and assessment of red flags including how to assess vital signs.  Students are also introduced to ethical healthcare practice, the APTA Code of Ethics and Core Values for the Physical Therapist.
