PT 8730 - Oncology and Physical Therapy

This course will take students from a basic understanding of cancer and cancer rehab to a beyond entry level understanding. Students will learn about the role of PT in treating deficits related to cancer and medical cancer treatment. This will include neurological, cardiopulmonary, and miscalculate deficits. Students will learn how to perform a cancer rehab evaluation, execute a plan of care, along with what modifications to a typical PT plan of care need to be made for patients with cancer. This course will include lecture and lab time and will cover the following cancers in depth: Breast cancer, Prostate cancer, Lung cancer, and Brain cancer.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of prior DPT curriculum or consent of instructor.
