The major concentration in Pure and Applied Physics leading to a Bachelor of Science degree consists of 22 upper-division hours of physics and 3-6 hours of upper-division courses in mathematics. The Pure and Applied Physics Major track is recommended for those students considering a career or graduate studies in areas such as science, engineering, or quantitative finance.
Per university requirements, students must choose additional upper-division coursework to complete the major requirements of a minimum of 30 hours of upper-division coursework. Students are advised to work with their advisor to choose these hours to complete coursework necessary for graduate school entrance requirements. A grade of C or better is required in each upper-division course counted toward fulfillment of the major requirements. (A grade of C- will not satisfy this requirement.)
