The two tracks within the biology major serve a student population that is diverse in its academic and career objectives by providing the opportunity to focus on cell and molecular biology or organismal and ecological biology. We also seek to provide students interested in other areas the opportunity to supplement their existing knowledge base with an understanding of human and environmental biology. Elective course s can be taken in areas of student interest. Many Biology majors choose secondary majors or minors.
Students are urged to consult with the department regarding their program of study as early in their academic careers as they can (during freshman year if possible). A grade of C or better is required in each upper-division course of the major as well as the 12 related hours of upper-division coursework. (A grade of C- will not satisfy the requirement.)
Strongly recommended courses (Please note that Related major hours must be upper-division):
