Major Field of Concentration

Upper Division Requirements:

The major concentration in English consists of a minimum of 22 semester hours of upper-division work. Required courses are:

One British Literature course
EN 3150 - Writing the Essay: Advanced Composition (3)
or
EN 3130 - Writing for the Environment: Advanced Composition (3)
One Shakespeare course (3)
One American literature course (3)
EN 4930 - Senior Thesis (1-3)
For the Film track, students must also complete:
EN 3800 - Introduction to Film (3)
EN 4120 - Screenwriting (3)
or
EN 3805 - Writing About Film (3)
An upper-division English course in literature

Related Coursework:

For the Film Track, a student is expected to complete 12 hours of upper-division, department-identified film courses, chosen from the following list of approved courses. A department-approved film-production course taken at another university may transfer in as part of the 12 hours of related coursework.

Note:

A grade of C or better is required in each upper-division course of the major. (A grade of C- will not satisfy the requirement.)
