Students must also satisfy:

Students must also satisfy an experiential learning requirement. This requirement is satisfied by completing an off-campus internship/work experience (in an approved, mathematically related field) together with at least one credit hour of the Career Services course, CP 3910 - Co-op Work Projects I .

This additional credit hour(s) for experiential learning does not count toward a student’s 18 upper-division credit hours in mathematics. Students must also complete 12 upper-division hours in a related area or areas. Students should consult with their mathematics faculty advisor in selecting courses and in planning their experiential learning project as soon as they declare a major. A grade of C or better is required in each upper-division course counted toward fulfillment of the major requirements. (A grade of C- will not satisfy this requirement.)

This major complements many other areas of study very well. Some examples of such areas are actuarial science, biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering, finance and physics. Students are encouraged to take courses in any of these areas of interest and even consider an additional major or minor in one of these topics.
