Medical Spanish Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The Medical Spanish minor is earned by the completion of 12 credit hours = four 3 credit hour courses, which are referred to as ‘badges’ in the Medical Spanish program. Students must earn a minimum grade of ‘C’ in all courses required for the minor. The 12 hours required for the minor must be earned in residence at Rockhurst.

Students who wish to take additional courses to move beyond the minor to pursue the Medical Spanish Certificate must apply for that Certificate program through the “Undergraduate Declaration of Majors, Minors or Certificates” form located under “Important Links” at www.rockhurst.edu/academics/registrar. A Medical Spanish Certificate may not be awarded unless the student applies for the certificate program. When that occurs, the minor program will be replaced by the certificate program in the student’s academic record.

Students may not earn a major and a minor, or minor and certificate, in the same area; nor can they apply specific upper-division courses required for a major toward the minor.

Additional electives:

NOTE:

Students may select either the Medical Spanish Minor or the Medical Spanish Certificate program, but may not obtain both the minor and certificate.

Students initially enrolled in the minor who decide to complete the fifth course to earn the certificate must complete the “Undergraduate Declaration of Major, Minor, or Certificate” to move from the Medical Spanish Minor and declare the Medical Spanish Certificate before graduation.

Students who graduate with the Medical Spanish minor may not return later to earn the Medical Spanish certificate post-graduation.
