AR 3450 - Photojournalism (JN 3450 ) (3) This course explores the ability of photography to record news events, stories of human interest, and contemporary social issues. Photographic techniques with 35mm black and white film and printing is introduced and reviewed. The analysis and criticism of images, the editing of photos and text, and the creation of narrative through the combination of word and image are primary areas explored. In addition, ethical and legal issues in photojournalism are introduced and examined. A 35mm, fully adjustable, single lens reflex (SLR) camera is required.
Studio fee for materials. Prerequisite: AR 1400 or JN 2000 or instructor approval.
