HS 3720 - American Studies: History, Culture, and Identity (3) This course provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of American Studies. Through this course, students will use a variety of sources to explore and analyze how various meanings and representations of the idea and concept of “America” have been constructed, contested, and negotiated from pre-colonial to contemporary times. It explores how important analytical categories such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, religion, nation, and transnationalism have affected people’s experiences in America.
