NS 3050 - Scientific Illustration (AR 3050 ) (3) A study of the basic techniques necessary to produce preliminary and final illustrations suitable for publication of biological and technical subjects. Emphasis is placed on sketching, pen and ink drawings, continuous tone drawing, animal drawing, watercolor, printing techniques, layout and design, lettering and maps and graphs. Field trips to a zoo, a natural history museum and printing plant are planned. Students complete a number of major drawing assignments designed to give them the expertise needed to illustrate their own research as well as that of other workers. This course does not satisfy the natural science requirement.
Lab fee for materials. Prerequisite: instructor approval.
