PY 4500 - Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy

This course addresses development of basic counseling skills and an appreciation of the counseling process and pitfalls. Emphasis is on listening, effective questioning, interpretation, and selection of appropriate therapeutic approaches. Students review and practice therapeutic strategies from behavioral, cognitive, psychodynamic, humanistic, and family systems paradigms.

Prerequisite: PY 3100  or PY 3110 ; PY 3550 .
