Journalism Certificate

The courses required for the certificate in Journalism are:

• AR 1400 - Basic Photography (3)

• or

• JN 3450 - Photojournalism (3)

•  

• JN 2000 - Introduction to Journalism (3)

Upper Division Requirements:

Four upper-division courses selected from the following:

• CT 4890 - Seminar in Mass Media (3)
• JN 3030 - Feature Writing (3)
• JN 3040 - Advanced Reporting and Editing (3)
• JN 3500 - Introduction to Public Relations (3)
• JN 4170 - Principles of Advertising (3)

Note(s):

A grade of C or better is required for each upper-division course for the certificate. (A grade of C- will not satisfy the requirement.) The certificate in Journalism is not available to degree-seeking students seeking a minor in Journalism. Admission to the program requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Students with previous college work should request that an official transcript be sent to the Office of Admission.
