The minor in global studies consists of GS 1000 - Introduction to Global Studies ; GS 3850 - International/Intercultural Reflection ; 12 hours of upper-division electives in at least two of the three elective groupings described below; 2 semesters of college-level work in a second language (or equivalent work approved by the Chair of the Department of Modern Languages).
A grade of C or better is required in each upper-division course of the minor. (A grade of C- will not satisfy the requirement.)

Elective Course Groupings
Culture
Courses in the Culture category address patterns of shared and learned beliefs, perceptions, and values that are demonstrated by a society through customs, behaviors, practices, processes, and creative expressions. With permission from the Global Studies director, upper-division KCASE courses in Anthropology may be used to fulfill part or the entire Culture component. Institutions
Courses in the Institution grouping examine organizational structures such as governments, international governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, and multinational corporations which serve as frameworks within which individuals behave and interact with one another locally, nationally, and globally. Markets
Courses in the Markets grouping deal primarily with how individuals, firms, non-governmental organizations, and governments engage in and make decisions regarding resource allocation and the production and distribution of goods and services. |
