Other business classes may be substituted with department approval.
Other Requirements:
- A minor or an additional 12 semester hours of upper division courses in related disciplines (outside Communication) are required, chosen under the direction of the major advisor.
- A grade of “C” or better is required in each upper division course of this major. A “C-” will not fulfill the requirement.
- A grade of “C” or better is required in composition and other writing courses.
- All majors are required to compete in either the Dowling Oratory Contest or the Bourke Extemporaneous Speaking Contest.
- An internship in communication, media or journalism is strongly recommended for all eligible majors. Students must be juniors or seniors, have a minimum 2.0 GPA overall and in lower division prerequisites in the major and a 3.0 GPA in major upper division courses, and must meet individual prerequisites of the internship. Internships must be arranged with the major advisor and faculty director prior to the work period for which the student expects to receive credit.
