Mathematics Minor, Classical Mathematics Track

Minor Field of Concentration

The student may choose between two tracks for a mathematics minor. Students majoring in physics may complete a mathematics minor under the applied mathematics track. A grade of C or better is required in each upper-division course counted toward fulfillment of the minor requirements. (A grade of C- will not satisfy this requirement.)

Classical Mathematics Track:

Required Lower Division Courses:

• MT 2800 - Calculus III (4)

• or

• MT 2200 - Mathematical Computing (3)

Required Upper Division Courses:

• MT 3800 - Introduction to Abstract Mathematics (3)
• MT 3810 - Linear Algebra (3)
• MT 3700 - Differential Equations (3)
• At least one additional 3000- or 4000- three credit hour Math course
