Organizational Leadership, M.A.


Managers and future managers need critical knowledge and skills to launch and sustain successful careers. The Organizational Leadership program emphasizes the qualitative skills of management. The 35 hour program focuses on managerial issues such as human resources, leadership, team dynamics, functional decision-making, and other knowledge and skills pertinent to managing others. Special focus is on managing people, change and technology so that teams and businesses operate more effectively, efficiently, and ethically. Students in the Organizational Leadership program will benefit from the Helzberg School’s core competencies of organizational, leadership, and ethical development.

Candidates in this Master of Arts program may specialize in a concentration area or earn a Master of Arts without a concentration by taking general electives.

All Organizational Leadership students must adhere to the Helzberg School of Management  Graduate Business Programs Admission Requirements, Standards and Policies.

Program Goals:
  • Facilitate cooperation and build coalitions to work together toward shared organizational goals.
  • Analyze ethical and corporate social responsibility issues in context and propose appropriate actions.
  • Design organizational initiatives, grounded in management fundamentals, to optimize organizational performance.
  • Analyze and manage diverse work groups.
  • Analyze, interpret, and apply quantitative and qualitative data to facilitate organizational adaptability.
  • Communicate effectively (speak, listen, write) with the internal and external stakeholders, and create an environment where effective communication can occur.
Student Learning Outcomes
  • Synthesize and evaluate leadership theories and concepts and effectively apply them to an organizational context.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of one’s own behavioral tendencies in a group setting and apply this self-awareness in improving one’s own future performance.
  • Analyze various business situations considering impact and consequences on all stakeholders.
  • Apply management concepts to optimize project performance.
  • Apply appropriate behavioral perspectives to optimize organizational performance.
  • Analyze and make specific recommendations for operating in a diverse work group.
  • Identify, analyze and interpret diagnostic data obtained from organizational activity and make recommendations to optimize organizational performance.
  • Effectively communicate ideas, problems, and data through written and oral communication.
  • Use communication skills to create an environment where effective dialogue can occur.
