Curriculum
The Business Administration MBA degree requires the student to complete the Business Administration Graduate Certificate * , as well as the completion of two additional certificates which are offered in the MBA program, and the completion of a 2 credit hour MBA capstone course.
The complete list of graduate certificates included in the MBA program are provided below.
All MBA students must adhere to the Helzberg School of Management Graduate Business Programs Admission Requirements, Standards and Policies.
MBA Prerequisite Courses
Prerequisite courses are designed to prepare students for success in the MBA and certificate programs. MBA and certificate prerequisites are typically satisfied by an undergraduate degree in a field of business or a Rockhurst University undergraduate degree with a minor in business administration. For students who do not have an undergraduate degree in a business field, the required or recommended prerequisites are determined by the certificate program and identified during the initial credit evaluation at the time of admission. Prerequisite courses may also be taken by individuals seeking background in basic areas of business or by those wanting to review specific subjects before moving into any of the MBA Certificates.
- Students meet MBA prerequisite requirements by:
- Earning a C or better in applicable undergraduate business courses.
- Completing specified Rockhurst MBA or certificate prerequisite courses.
- Or by receiving a waiver from the Dean or the Dean’s designee based on prior work experience or professional achievement. In all cases, the student is responsible for proficiency in all work discussed in those courses.
If determined necessary during the initial credit evaluation, the following prerequisite courses may be required:
Business Administration Certificate
The MBA program requires each student to complete the Business Administration Certificate. The Business Administration Certificate totals 12-14 credit hours - for a list of courses, see Business Administration Graduate Certificate * .
Additional Certificates to complete
In addition to completing the Business Administration Certificate, students pursuing an MBA must also complete the coursework for two of the following graduate certificates. Note: only certificates listed here (noted by the *) are eligible to count towards the stackable MBA degree.
Individual course requirements for each certificate may be found through the links below. Note that courses taken to fulfill one certificate may not be double counted towards any other certificate.
The Advanced Leadership Graduate Certificate * is also available to qualified applicants.
MBA Capstone course required: 2 credits
Note:
Students recruited to the earlier version of Rockhurst’s MBA program through the Dean’s Scholar initiative may be eligible for the legacy MBA curriculum, outlined under the requirements of the Legacy MBA curriculum .
